Our Philosophy …
... is 'as little as possible'. That is, we set up enough microphones to influence the balance of the instruments as desired, but the sound is dominated by an arrangement of main microphones.
For this we use microphones of the highest quality, such as Schoeps, Neumann, etc.
What has proved itself in the field of recording symphony orchestras over the years is the basis for recordings with wind ensembles. Especially to make the listening impression of a live concert plastically on a CD requires a lot of experience. We find it extremely negative to have the impression that the orchestra is lined up in front of the listener and then he walks to the groups of instruments that are currently leading the melody.
Today there are still well-known studios who want to record an orchestra in succession in a row and make it believable in order to achieve a better result. This is justified by the fact that one has more design and correction possibilities in the mixing / mastering. In our view, this has nothing to do with music and rather reflects the charm of a recording in the operating room with a mask and the smell of disinfectant. The term malpractice gets here a new meaning ….
